Christmas Lights in Madrid
Time has come for the streets of Madrid to be illuminated for the holiday season! Smart Insiders is here to give you the scoop for everything you need to know for how to get the most out of your Christmas lights experience. Also, 2019 will showcase a wide range of new and beautiful designs, even though some of the lights will be similar to those from previous years. These luminous creations have been created by some of the most established fashion designers, architects, and graphic designers in Spain.
Where can you see the lights?
Alcala Street
Cibeles to Puerta de Alcalá: You certainly won’t be disappointed with this breathtaking display. Puerta de Alcala is a must-see and could be one of the most noteworthy spots in Madrid. The artist wanted to represent the night sky of Madrid covered with stars.
Serrano Street
Calle Serrano is known for it’s fashion so in dedication the artist has designed the lights in different shapes to seem like fabric draping over a line. Now that you know the inspiration this is even more of a reason to go with your friends and study this beautiful almost sculpture-like display.
Certainly don’t forget the Christmas trees.
Being away from home probably makes us miss family traditions, and one of the most important is the Christmas tree! If you are unable to buy and decorate this year with your family then have no fear because Madrid has many beautiful trees you can enjoy around the city. Another reason you’re in for a treat this year is because some of the trees will have different decorations than years prior. So if you were in Madrid last year you will have another chance to get excited walking around and seeing what is new and exciting this year.
