Description

Madrid’s Royal Palace definitely is a wow factor in Madrid, but it’s not just the palace itself that is an eye-catcher. The gardens that decorate the palace also contribute to the idyllic atmosphere.

In this walking tour, followed by a picnic, we will show you the royal gardens: Jardínes de Sabatini, Campo del Moro and the Plaza de Oriente.

History

The history garden “Campo del Moro“, built during the reign of Felipe II, is a secret gem of Madrid. Located next to Madrid Río, it’s open everyday and has an unparalleled view of the Royal Palace. The “Jardínes de Sabatini” are also gardens that were created in the 1930s, where there were previously royal stables that came from Sabatini. They are now considered a decorative extension of the royal palace. The undoubtedly perfect forecourt for the palace, is “Plaza de Oriente“. It is also considered a garden, decorated with a sculpture collection of twenty Spanish monarchs, such as the imposing equestrian statue of King Philip IV.
