History
In the 14th century, the Royal Palace was constructed to house the royal family. This magnificent attraction was built on the site of the old Islamic Alcázar, but it was destroyed by a fire in 1734, leading to the reconstruction of the palace which lasted seventeen years.
Today, the Palace is used for ceremonial and public events. From outside, the Palace looks enormous – and it is! There are over 3,000 rooms within the castle, making it impossible to see every room in one visit.
